I have tested the XL302 with headphones - front socket - Sound ok, also with Composite Phono Leads (connected to the rear outputs) they also so work ok. So the sound card is working and is ouputting sound, but not through the HDMI cable. My sound card driver insists on using the Sigma Tel High Definition Audio, which comes with the PC, the thing that bothers me is that the Sound panel config screen shows the Sigma Tal audio device with an icon below it of a Rear Panel optical out jack as the connection lead to use. Why??????

Any sound savvy people out there, who can advise.

However, it could be a Vaio and Samsung 1080P panel compatibility issue, but allegedly they are wriiten to common interface standard.

Has anyone got an XL302 and a Samsung 1080P panel with the audio working - using only the HDMI cable for the sound and picture?

I have yet to try the optical out as its a nightmare behind all the kit. Has anyone tried the rear optical out? If so can they advise.

I've the same situation XL 302 with a samsung le40MB86 full HD connected thure HDMI.
I've not tested other connection.
I've Vista, can you see in control panel the sound reality panel with the advanced option tab for HDMI output ?
I've reinstalled the sistem with vaio recovery and now I can't see the sound reality.

Before reinstall I've seen the sound reality but there was a rundll32 error or the sound reality doesn't show the advanced tab for HDMI output.

I've called Sony support and now I'm waitihg because probably they will come out and try to change the sound card...
