Sony Xperia Sola : Touchscreen Problems

I had bought this xperia sola 2 weeks ago.....it worked like butter since then till today morning......when i discovered that it's touchscreen is not working properly.....

The touch screen is not responding as it should...Sometimes it sens and sometimes not...!!!

1. it's difficult to unlock....   time : 00.04,  2.10

2. then you cant select or delete clock widget (when you touch and hold.....it presumes that u touched ones and opens the clock.)             time :00.24,   2.48

3. Capacitive  buttons are also not responding well...     time :00.27

4. not able to change wallpaper......as when touching and holding in empty region.....it doesn't open the wallpaper widget menu....    time:  00.30,   02.22

    TOUCH and HOLD  is not working....

5. also it have problem in dialing numbers...    time: 00.42

6. things doesn't changes even after restarting....   time :1.39

7. also have problem in app menu....   time : 3.40

In all the whole problem is of touchscreen response......

I have also rest it to factory setting and formatted it's internal memory.....(in case some setting or app has created this problem)  but unfortunately that has also not helped.....

also .162 update is not unavailable from sony(it was available earlier)......!!

also sony companion is also not repairing my phone...it says that your phone is upto date.....
and update centre is also saying phone up to date....and is also not showing"update anyway" feature as suggested by some users....

PLEASE HELP !!! ....I have bought this phone just 2 weeks ago...

could this be because of the screen protector? Does a phone without a screen protector have this issue??

I set the brightness on highest level, plugged the phone into the laptop & after it in the wall, there was no lags & it was running smooth

This issue seems to be intermittent,,, sometime when I plugged my phone using the usb, I'll have this touch and capacitive button issue, sometimes I dont experience it... and sometimes when I place the device on  a certain spot (such as laying flat on my desk) and plugged it to the charger, Ill experience it.. is there any known resolution for this? thanks

and this issue doesnt seem to be isolated with ICS update per se... cause right after I bought this phone, after I plugged it to the PC I exp. it eventhough the phone is on GB...

I think this is an issue with the sola hardware.  I'm guessing, but possibly it's because of the floating touch technology.

Mine has a very unresponsive touchscreen when connected to the charger, and also if I operate it without physically holding it (if it's lying on a desk, for example).  I've seen this on both GB and ICS.

I'll live with it, because it's OK during normal (in-hand) use, but it's yet another reason why I won't buy another Sony phone in the future.

yes, It seems that upgrading to ICS has caused this issue to be a lot worse since on ICS alot of applications now can support the floating touch feature.. Its annoying sometimes but I'll get used to it.. hopefully

after the ICS update the floating touch got worse in apps frequently. Temple run plays itself without touching the screen. Does anyone have a solution for this?

I have the same problem with the touch screen :smileysad:.

Some other problems that the phone has are the following.

• I set the display time out 15 sec but some times it does not lock the screen
• Some times while I made a call the phone dials other phone number

any ideas to fix those main issues???

Yep.  Yet another person suffering from the sola touchscreen lag / non-responsive issue.  Sola bought directly from Sony UK in August, sometimes I cannot even take the screen lock off and I can never enter my screen lock pattern any more.

Sony SHOULD be issuing a recall about this problem.

I am waiting for the day when a manufacturer - any manufacturer - actually makes a smartphone that works properly.  I've tried numerous brands and they just don't seem to be able to get touch screens to perform properly.

I have the same problme with my sola, my pohone is barely usable. It got much much worse with the cold weather. Sunbathing worked for a while we but now that winter kicked in that doesn't work anymore. Sony you kind of suck, you should had stayed with Erricson you are not even capable of building a mediocre phone. I paid 300E for this piece of .....

Anywone working in a phone service could please give us some tips or share a software patch would be great. Obviosly this so called support is not going to give us any help. I saw that someone posted a patch for xperia typo, unfortunately that dindn't work for my sola.

ps: good thing we got a glove mode :|, could we maybe get a normal touch mode and not the finger mode that sony keeps showing us?
