media not found

Hi,

My z1 told me my memory was getting full and to transfer photos and videos to my Sd card like I've done before. But this time, in the main album every picture that was transferred has a black background with a broken white mountain thing and when I find them in the sd card file I can see the pictures but when I click on them it says 'media not found ' I am going to throw it out the window if I can't get the pictures back as they are all of my newborn baby that I can't get back I hate technology!
Any help would be really appreciated

And videos and pictures are on internal or still microSD?Look at my above post.

Strange,try a software repair or the media storage thing again.It could be a slow indexing.

It might be related to the microSD card too.I wonder why did you try to clear data for media storage,what was the problem?

Hey alexdon, I seem to have the same problem. I don't believe it's the SD card considering how many people are experiencing this.

I have tried to format the SD card as well but that proved to be pointless. If I change storage of photos to SD card from the camera settings, photos seems to be okay at first but somehow when I go to photos app later on it will be corrupted. This is very frustrating as I would take awesome photos with the fantastic camera on the Xperia Z2 but later to find its all corrupted.

I did some research and saw that apparently the latest Android version changed their permission settings for writing data on SD cards for 3rd party apps. This would make sense if I used another app as the camera app but I'm using the stock camera app that comes with Xperia Z2.

The way to fix this apparently is to root the phone but I really don't want to root my phone just to fix it.

I have also seem to have this with videos. I would use GO Media (or is it Media GO) to transfer videos from my computer to the phone's SD card storage. The videos are in .mp4 and .avi format. Funny thing is, I copied about 14 files and only the first 2 files works. The first 2 files were avi however I had other avi format files in the other 12 videos but they still don't seem to work. It just shows that the player cannot play the files. So I this case I don't think it's transcoding that's the problem but more of either permissions in reading or perhaps the permissions when writing the files onto the card.

Still, I'm still very confused as to why my media are corrupted. Only my audio files seems to be working fine. Any help would be gladly appreciated.

Have you tried to manually copy those files and not use media go?

Yes I have, that was the first thing I did before using Media GO.

Infact the results were even worse than using Media GO. I initially took the SD Card out of the phone and inserted in a SD card reader, then plugged that into the computer.

Copied the files (Took a while as it was quite large) and when it was done, it just disappeared somehow... Which is very odd and surprising for me.

I couldn't believe it myself and thought it might have 'hidden' it automatically or something, so I plugged it back into the SD Card and tried to see if the Movies app will recognise any video files and there's nothing.

After this failed, I formatted the SD card using the phone's Erase function then used the Media GO method which I mentioned previously.
