I listen mostly to podcasts and a bit of music on my players and on my old i-river H320 with Rockbox installed I could bookmark a podcast, jump to some music then come back to the bookmark. It would pick up mid podcast where the book mark was created then play the podcast and move on to the next one in the list, exactly as you would want.
With the Sony if I bookmark a podcast and come back, firstly it won't mark my place in the podcast (which might be 1.5 hours + long) it starts at the beginning but more annoyingly when it's finished playing, it won't move onto the next podcast in the folder it moves onto the next bookmark in the list. This means you have to manually go looking for the next episode and some of these things have hundreds of entries in multiple folders which is a real pain.
Is there any way to configure the player to play the next track/podcast and not the next bookmark?
Also, if I'm in an album and I want to go from the current track being played back to the album folder I swipe left, that's fine but if I want to go back to the overall folder for that band swiping left again doesn't seem to take me back up the file tree, is there a way to do that?
Many thanks.
Hey Loofer, the playing order depends on how you transferred the tracks to the Walkman, the Walkman may play tracks in a different order from the track order on the computer.
Regarding the pausing feature, I'm not sure what are you trying to accomplish here, I don't think and I didn't find any mention of the bookmark function on the Manual.
Hannah, thanks for the reply but I don't think I've explained it clearly. there were 2 problems,
1) if I have 100 podcasts and I'm playing No72 and bookmark it, when I go back and load the bookmark and it plays and finishes, it won't go on to podcast No73 (the next in the folder) it goes on to play the next entry in the bookmark list which is just whatever else I've bookmarked. If I want to play podcast No73 I have to go all the way through the file tree to find it manually.
2) If I'm playing a track and want to see the list of all the tracks in that album I swipe left but I can't go back any further so if I want to chose another album by that band (which would be in the same folder) I again have to go all the way through the folder tree to find it manually, in other MP3 players I could just go back from the track list to the list of all albums from that band then click on one to go into it.
Hope this is clearer.
Hey Loofer, yea that's def. clearer, but I still couldn't find anything that explains the functionality of these features to know if that's a fault or this is how it's supposed to be. I recommend contacting Sony directly.
Cheers Hannah, I might try that.
Hey there,
Well, if you hear back, or find something else, let us know as we..
Cheers.
You've got me on tenterhooks SkyNet, "we...."
Come one man, put me out of my misery!
Yeah, totally useless, they just sent me a couple of links to the bookmark and playback pages in the manual. I'm looking into doing an SD card conversion to my old I-river to expand the capacity and I might just sell this on and go back to it to be honest.
Hey Loofer, could you share these links? Maybe we can take another look at them together.
