Just tried to play Superman Returns on my VGN-AR21S with Cyberlink PowerDVD and it wont play. I've downloaded the firmware update for Matshita BD-MLT UJ-210S. Does anyone know what the problem is?
Also how do I get the motion eye to work?
Thanks
Adam
Is it PowerDVD Ultra as that is the one with BD playback? Have you tried using the WinDVD BD that was included with your laptop.
To get the Motion Eye to work open up My Computer and double click on the Sony Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC2 icon that is under Scanners and Cameras. If you're using a program such as Skype then go Tools -> Options -> Video (Beta) and select Sony Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC2 from the drop down list.
Thanks for the reply... Yes it is the Ultra. When I try and play it the screen just freezes. Ive had a look at my WinDVD and it's just version 5 not BD.
On the motion eye situation. I opened up Scanners and Cameras and there is nothing in there...
WinDVD BD should have come bundled with your AR21S. It should be right under WinDVD on the Start Menu. Have a look and see if you can find it here...
C:\Program Files\InterVideo\DVDEX\WinDVD.exe
Is your cam listed in Device Manager? Press the Windows Key and R at the same time and type devmgmt.msc in the box that appears. Find the item in the list that says Imaging Devices and then double click it. Your cam should be listed there. If it is, double click it and see what it says in the Device Status panel.
The Win Blu Ray is very pedantic due to the very narrow beam used. If it doesn't work then generally it's near impossible to get it to function without a reformat. Cyberlink are very good but would likely suffer from the same sensitivity issues
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I don't have WinDVD BD on my laptop. All I have is Intervideo with Xpack configuration and Intervideo WinDVD.
Also there is no item that says Imaging Devices so I can't find the cam.

Hi Doigy,
I don't think you can re-install the preloaded version of Win DVD BD without using the Vaio Recovery tool to Restore the C drive..
But you can check first if you go to Start > All Programs > Vaio Recovery Tool and click on Vaio Recovery utility.
Once the Vaio Recovery utility has loaded, click the options button and select Recovery Specific Applications that were pre-installed, click OK, then Yes and Yes again.
or
There is Intervideo WinDVD BD 8.0.8.100 for Vista which is available to download from here
Hi Thalamus,
I'm starting to think something is major wrong at the minute... I just tried to download the WinDVD BD from the Sony web site and it says I can because it's not been previously installed. I also cannot find anything on my laptop to do with the motion eye.
I suggest backing everything up and recovering your VAIO to factory settings so that you will have all the programs you should.
It will not install because it is an update no the full installer.
