USB / Serial adapter DEVICE UNKNOWN

I have a Viao PCG-K315Z laptop.

I am trying to connect a hardware device called P3Pro, using a Serial to USB adapter. We know it works as it has been successful on another computer and the product works properly to.

The program, needs to find the correct COM port and asked mostly for no. 3. However I have USB ports and the devise is registering unknown. What the heck do I do. I will try technical support now, but this is driving me mad and costing me money.

An answer to my problems would be brilliant. Thank you

If the device (Serial to USB adapter) is registering `unknown¿, the chances are it does not have the necessary drivers.

Hi Craig,

Are you using a docking station? I ask because the serial and paralell ports use virtual ports, which does cause havoc with dongles.
