Xperia XZ iCloud account won't authenticate

Hi everyone!

There have been a few topics on here in regards to email/iCloud issues but I haven't been able to find anything about the specific issue I am experiencing.

Since about last week, not a single email app (including the original email app that comes with the phone) is able to authenticate my iCloud account, I've had to use my laptop to check emails which is definitely a first-world issue, but it's incredibly inconvenient.

My Gmail is working just fine, so I have no idea if the issue is with Apple, or it's with the Xperia.

So far, I've:

  • Changed my iCloud account password
  • Cleared the cache from my email app (I even cleared all the data at one point)
  • Deleted the app and tried downloading it again
  • Tried to update my phone (but it's up to date)
  • Tried several different apps
  • Tried using my email address @icloud.com instead of @me.com but I don't know why I thought this would work

None of the above has done anything. If anyone has any fixes, I would really appreciate it!

Thanks for your time.

-Miki

Hi @Miki329,

Welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear about this, it must be frustrating!

I have taken a look into this for you and it appears the issue may be with some changes made by Apple and their security process with third party applications. From what I have found, you may need to set up two-step verification with Apple or generate an app specific password to access your emails on an android device or through an application that is not the Apple specific email app.

As we are support for Sony Xperia I unfortunately am unable to provide very much information in regards to this or how to set up the app specific password so I would suggest contacting Apple for help with doing this.

Hope this helps and you gain access to your emails again! Slightly_smiling_Face

Oh dear, I'm afraid this is beyond me. I don't know how to proceed with this.

i will have to go to the Apple shop again.

i have already asked Apples advice and was told the problem lay with Sony not them.

i am being passed around like a parcel.
