Multicoloured flashing

Hi, 

My XZ3 randomly flashes different colours and vibrates. 

Seems to happen around quarter past the hour but not every hour. 

Needs total switch off to stop it. 

Can't think of why. 

Any ideas?

Hi @ChrisGrandaB1, sorry to hear about this.

Is this something you have started to experience very recently, for example after updating your device, or has it been going on for a while? I haven't heard about such a behaviour previously, so I'll have to ask a few questions.

Does the device continue to vibrate until you turn it off and is the entire screen flashing in different colours and it's not possible to use the display at all and it's not responding when you try and use it?

Since it does seem to occur at a pretty regular timing per day, could you try and restart the device in safe mode when you are getting close to for example, 11.15 and see if there is any change in this mode? In safe mode, downloaded applications will be temporarily disabled, but no data will be deleted and they will be started again once you restart the device.

I'm not 100% sure it does happen at the same time every day.

It seemed to be at the same time but not always. 

The screen flashes red and blue for about a minute, accompanied by vibration. 

If I leave it, it stops and if I'm in a call, the other party seems unaware. 

No apps running at the time. 

Have recently updated system on Sonys recommendation.

Have you had the chance to try the device in safe mode to see if there was any change? I understand that having the device in this mode with no access to downloaded applications isn't optimal, but it's a very big part in the troubleshooting, especially since I haven't heard about this before.

You mention that if you leave the device untouched when it occurs, it stops. Are you then able to use the device normally after, or is a reboot still required? Same for when this occurs in a call, are you able to complete the call and when the call has ended, can you use the device normally?
