[Xperia Z][Lollipop] Mobile Data work while Wi-Fi is active

I have Wi-Fi and Mobile data always switched on, cause I want to be online everytime, no matter where I am.

When I come home, the phone switches from 3g to Wi-Fi connection. But after update to Lollipop, Mobile data connection turns on for some reason while I'm sleeping, thought Wi-Fi connection still persist. When I wake up, I see Wi-Fi icon and 3g/H/H+ icon above radio signal together (look at attached image).

In Power Management -> Battery usage there are most of Cell standby. And about 25-30% of battery drained for only 6 hours (it's maybe ok with weak 3g outside, but not with Wifi at home).

As I know, phone can be used in Wi-Fi mode or 3g/4g mode for data connection, but not both at a time. And before update to Lollipop everything was fine with it, my Xperia was correctly switching between Wi-Fi and 3g connections.

Does anyone has the same issue, and how can I solve this?

I'm not sure if Sony incorporated this feature into it's new firmware but some new OEM devices use both at the same time to have more speed when using or browsing the net - Maybe someone else can confirm or deny this

I notice both data sources are active at random times. But I'm not having battery drain issues as described by OP.

It is a faulty condition, try to repair your software, find below for repair.

Please try running a software repair on your handset as it will remove & reinstall the operating system - which is likely to bring the phone back to life. 

You will need to download PC Companion. Please note because you can't turn the phone on or unlock the screen all data will be deleted.

1. Once installed, click Start under Support Zone.
2. Phone Software Update.
3. Start.
4. Repair Phone
5. Continue
6. Accept data removal
7. Next
8. Wait for prepare
9. Select Phone
10. Follow the connection steps

It is not supposed to work together, Mobile Data should be off during Wifi on.!

What proof you are looking for .?

Screen shot attached for ref. am a user of xperia Z and updated to latest firmware so here am sharing my experience too.

In Xperia Z with lollipop 5.0 all other phones does not have the issue that means its  a faulty condition from software or hardware .!

first you check for software repair if problem persist need to go for a hardware repair.!!!

As I said some OEM's now have implemented that both can be used at the same time in order to boost speed - I know this for a fact as one of my devices been a non Sony device does this

Yeah I am the same with my Z. Mobile data and Wi Fi both work at the same time,not every time but randomly. I don't think repairing will help by the way. I don't know about why mobile data and wi fi are on at the same time. It wasn't like that in Kitkat. Maybe it's boosting speed but there should be option for turning Mobile off automatically when the wi fi is connected. Because most users doen't want both of them on because 3G or LTE is expensive and limited in most countries and carriers.

- I see lots of people recommend repairing option, almost in every topic. I have used repairing option twice in my Xperia Z and it didn't helped to solve my problems. And wiping everything in my phone is very frustrating for me beause I need to check everthing on my phone, from important notes to my documents, pictures, some apps like dictionaries that I cannot save my words and progress in Play Store completely. So please don't recommend this option without having some kind of information to every problem. Using repair option is a huge gamble for me right at the moment. I don't have any scientific information about wheater my problem will solve after using violent repair option. I didn't install any apps without certificates. Also I have an antivirus. So If I'm having this issue, and I'm not the only one, there should be problem with Sofware, not with the users. I wrote a lot for Lollipop and lack of Support from Sony:

Sony did not implement this in Xperia Z. So i think its a faulty condition.

Solutions are mentioned before, it happens after update, that's why we are asking to repair the update, may be a faulty update can cause it.

You need to rectify the issue, if repair didn't work, check for any third party apps, it may cause force data to be kept on always.

so boot in safe mode to check if a third party app doing the damage.

If everything fails Contact your local Sony Xperia Care, you need to visit an authorized service center, because it's a hardware issue.
