All SP owners please check this in your phone as well.
I'm having problems with my sp's display when the phone is kept on horizontal surface.
In the video, phone is kept on the bed and i'm trying to use it. But you can see the screen just misses the touch 😕 I wonder why.
This only happens when the phone is kept horizontally.
Ps: screen guard is not the problem since I checked with 2 different guards and phone works perfectly in hands.
PS2 > The screen works fine while phone is put to charging.
Yeah I noticed the same with the "glove mode". I did like this:
Now the screen works nicely but when you restart the phone the next time it will be as annoying as usual.
I have the swipe lockscreen mode enabled all the time.
But these two aint fixes just workarounds.
In my few minutes of testing, the screen worked nicely as long as both Glove Mode and Swipe Lockscreen were enabled, even after rebooting.
Seems like when glove mode is on, the screen unlock triggered some kind of process that fixed the touchscreen.
Yeah probably but I don't wanna have the annoying translucent ball jumping all over my screen.
Hi,
Have there been any further developments with this issue as it is one that I am also suffering with (along with the poor wifi strength).
I have had a chat online today with the UK Xperia Care & they have said it's not an issue they are aware of!!!!!!
I'm in 2 minds whether to send the handset off to be re-calibrated or to go back to Orange & exchange the device for a new one & see if that resolves it (only got until Weds/Thurs to do this).
Has anyone sent their phone for repair & has it resolved the issue?
Cheers

It should be noted that, while the glove mode is a nice temporary fix, it's not a permanent fix. I'm not experiencing the problem myself, however, those who are, your phones should work with the glove mode off aswell, if not, then something's wrong.
Hopefully mine doesn't pick up the problem. Did your problems exist from the start or did it develop later on? Don't know whether it's a firmware issue or a hardware calibration, guessing it's calibration as their compass is also not accurate either, off by about 10 degrees or so.
The way glove mode works is when you unlock the screen, it senses how far your finger is from the screen, hence it will work with different gloves no matter how thick they are. You can even trick the phone into working without touching the screen and just hovering over it, although kind of pointless.
Hi chong,
I had but as Wecki (& now Xad) have said, this is really only a work around & doesn't clear the fault from the phone.
Have already been frustrated by the phone doing something I didn't ask it to do because of the ball/ring reacting before I've touched the screen!
I have a solution for touch problame of xperia sp...! There is a app ThouchFWtools.apk..! here is the address..http://www.filecrop.com/TouchFWTools.apk.html
Download this app and install it on your xperia sp...! After some time the touch will work smothly when the phone is on flat surface as well as in your hand...!
Hi Johan, I'm from Singapore will you be able to help? I just bought the X SP last weekend and I already experience problem with the touch control. sometimes it just go wild moving app icons about or while typing it types by itself, also sometimes it stops responding. is it a problem with the SP or only my phone? I'm having the white colour phone.
I was planning to buy this phone from a local dealer. Unfortunately there is no service center in my country or any warranty available for sony mobiles.
I really like this phone, but this problem has made me think about it.
Please let me know if there is any solution to it without going to service center.
