All SP owners please check this in your phone as well.
I'm having problems with my sp's display when the phone is kept on horizontal surface.
In the video, phone is kept on the bed and i'm trying to use it. But you can see the screen just misses the touch 😕 I wonder why.
This only happens when the phone is kept horizontally.
Ps: screen guard is not the problem since I checked with 2 different guards and phone works perfectly in hands.
PS2 > The screen works fine while phone is put to charging.
Agree totally with Genovator. And the reason different chargers affect the problem is because they all have different degrees of coupling to mains earth. Even the shoes you wear (rubber soled or not) probably affect the outcome.
All of which is, sadly, of no help to people suffering the problem 😞
Yeah.. Even walking on carpet increases the ESD of human body. Most of the wall chargers do not have any 'earth' connection. I guess this problem exists only in capacitive screens. I have nokia c6 which has a resistive screen and it never gave any problem to me..
My work phone, a Galaxy Xcover 2, also has a capasitive toughscreen but doesn't have the problem.
The SP has a more sensitive capacitive screen than usual which responds in some apps (like the browser) even when your finger hovers a few mm above the surface. This level of sensitivity is also needed for "Glove Mode".
Maybe the screen is just too sensitive, causing problems when the user isn't "earthed" to the phone (touching the metal surround).
So I've now got my phone back from being "repaired" by EE & it looks as though nothing has been done & no fault was found even though I've still got the same issue!!!!!!!
The device went off to the same repair place as Sony use (& where I sent it the first time).
I'm still running the .257 firmware & the phone says that it's up to date so won't allow me to update to .245 which may solve the problem. Am tempted to try a phone repair on the PC companion.
I have the C5303 version of the SP.
I don't really want to have to take it back to EE again, to be sent for another non repair, & left without my phone for another 3 weeks!!!
Sony - Why aren't you listening to your consumers!!!!
I had sent my XSP to the repair centre for display issue, today I got it back...after few hours of usage I noticed the problem persists, whatever they have done didn't work out. Still whenever I use my phone connected to the wall charger or any other power source for that matter, it randomly fails to register touches, not necessarily in horizontal postion as reported by some folks, it happens in any position.
Good thought m8.
I've been a Sony fan since SE K750i. Over the years I have used SE K810, W910, X10i & the advent of Floating Touch influencing me to buy Xperia Sola after finally settling down with Xperia SP. As opposed to many opinions stated here, I still love Sony cos I've never had any issues with the past models except Sola & SP (yes :smileyrolleyes:the charging-touch bug). Other than the said bug, all the handsets have served me dutifully, well & beyond their capabilities.
I even had to throw my X10i TWICE on the floor (in a fit of anger, no; not cos of the phone) for the thing to break apart.
I think Genovator hit the apple with his answer. It could be the reason why Sola is the only handset with the full floating touch feature. With SP, Sony might have reduced the field intensity, but unfortunately it's evident they haven't quite pulled it off. I 've been using my SP for almost a month now and I've to say, the problem isn't that frequent ( atleast for me & occurs only while being charged) and it does go away once u lock the screen and unlock it (temporarily ofcourse).
Luckily most of us will be using our "mobile devices", while being on the move without a wire connecting it to the wall socket.
Nevertheless it is a software glitch which SONY needs to look into, and hopefully it will be dealt with soon.
:smileyworried:...let the showers of gluttony & hatred rein upon me for saying this but - I
SONY. Every manufacturer have got their issues.. ...:smileyworried:
