...yep, it happend to me as well.
Last night I went for a swim in the pool and wanted to take some pictres, so I took my phone with me. It worked fine for a couple of minutes. Then, after I left the pool and while I was looking at the pictures the screen started flickering. The phone then vibrated three times and shut down. Since then I've left it alone to dry. First next to the oven, then in a bowl of rice in which it has been for about 12 hours now.
I can definitely tell that water got inside, since I felt moisture around the SIM card whilst removing it. I suspect that this is where the liquid entered. Also the water indicator near the SD card has turned red, whis has me really worried since it's quite a ways away.
As I bought the phone about 11 months ago I had it exposed to water on several occasions and I never had a problem like this.
I'm not expecting it to get back to life, or that there's any solution that will "save" it. My question now is just how this is, or is not covered by Sony's warranty and if ther's any chance that I will get a replacement. I cannot contact the Support today (Sunday) so that's why I'm asking you guys first.
Sorry to hear this but you would need to either return your device to the place of purchase or contact Xperia care and have your device inspected http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/
Well I will do that as soon as possible. Thanks for the reply
Hello,
I've just recieved a phone call from Sony (Poland). I'm deeply touched about the news given. Sony will send me a new phone. Unfortunatly I was being asked to choose the new color for the replacement (black is out of stock). They told me that they must wait for parts few weeks and they dont want to force me to wait too long for a reapair. I'm positively shocked about recieved solution.
Warranty issue: My phone was in contact with water for about 30 seconds and about 40 cm below surface during last holiday trip. It was its 1st serious contact with liquids since buying (almost a year). Of course seals were checked x2 if ther were clean and properly closed just before whole operation. Despite this the result was: bootloop (not always - i recovered data after few days keeping phone in rise) and no working touch at all. Authorised service centre made some mechanical repairs and after that my phone passed the vaccum test and then the same service suggested that the motherboard should be replaced (for the beginning). But finally motherboard replacing process did not happened
Sorry for my unperfect english. You know still under emotions ...
