SONY PC COMPANION BACKUP FAILURE NOT RESPONDING

I have a sony xperia T, it used to backup just fine but over the last 12 months I have been unable to successfully backup my data.

 

After a short amount of time once backup has started, sony pc companion crashes and stops responding. I have tried to manually select only settings, sms etc. and left out the media files, it got further but still crashed before the backup could be completed. I used to use Desktop Companion, but the app has disappeared from playstore now so I am unable to redownload it as I got rid of it a while back when clearing space.

 

I want to install the latest update, however I am wary about doing this without backing up first as last time I installed a major update it failed halfway through and wiped my phone, luckily I had backed up the phone a few days before. However, I have not been able to fully back up my phone since April 2013. Any help would be great thanks.

Hi,

I have the same issue, no longer possible to perform any backup of my phone!

I tried to uninstall 'Sony PC Companion' and install it again but didn't help.

I hope that Sony will solve this issue asap.

I have the same problem, been trying for weeks to get it sorted. I smashed my screen and the phone can't be repaired without wiping everything! I can't manually back it up from the phone cos the screen can't be used. I got a generic response from the customer care first and waiting on a 2nd reply from them! Seems like they Sony aren't paying any attention to this issue!

I have this issue posted on this thread and another in the forum and will keep updating until it's sorted!

UPDATE: I have replied to customer care several times but am not getting a response anymore! I have since tried the backup again and again, this time I am trying to backup each individual heading in the program. ie: Contacts, memos, settings etc. one by one. It crashed during several attempts of each of them and I got as far as the Other category and it has crashed altogether and refuses to do anything now! Must admit I'm getting pretty angry at Sony at this point.

UPDATE 2: They seem to respond if you bombard them with emails and use aggressive lanuage. I have been asked to reinstall the software, try a different machine and now try a different lead. Thank God they were able to think of these options as I could never have thought of them on my own. The Sony Customer Care team truely rival the cognative capacity of the Apple geniuses!

I have officially given up. Every email I sent Sony was met with a massive delay in response followed by a worthless response asking me to do very basic things, most of which I had already checked myself. End result! PC companion is worthless, and I hope you never have to back up your phone in any way at all. Sony **bleep** balls and I hope whoever created that software is taken out and shot, and anyone who works in customer care fired! Diabolical!
