My phone doesn't see the SD card.

When I insert my SD card it doesn't show on the phone. It is a samsung 64gb class 10 card brand new. I have tried it formatted as fat32 and xfat.

Some sd cards have compatibility issues with sony devices.Try a low level format and report here.

Tried a low level format but the sd card still doesn't show. Also tried 2 other SD cards of lesser capacity. Neither shows up. When I go into the Storage section of the settings menu the sections regarding the sd card are in light grey script and cannot be selected.

Could you try a Sandisk?Did you formay it fat32?

I think the phone requires a boot with the card to 'install' it or something. I had this problem as well when inserting the card (sandisk 8gb formatted as fat32, NTFS and exFAT) while the phone was on. After I rebooted it, the card showed up. Even better (or stranger) was that, from that point on, the the phone DOES notice the card being put in or pulled out. 

FYI it was fat32 when I rebooted it, and since it then worked, I havent tried the other formats. Don't know if that would make a difference.

 I'm getting pretty fed up with this phone. Sony are supposed to be a premium brand. I would expect it work as the specs suggest it should yet here I am after 1 week and over 20 formats I am still trying to get it to recognize an SD card. It will recognize cards up to 32gb but not the 64gb card I bought specifically to use in it in accordance with the phones spec. I am very dissapointed in this phone!

Just to confirm, the cards you have tested, are they all of the same brand?

I have an Xperia Z1, I purchased at 32GB Microe SD card to use with this phone.  When I first got the phone the card worked fine and i could transefer things to is easily.  Now I am unable t do so and the SD card does not show up on th ephone when plugged in to a PC.

I did have to send my phone away for a repair due to my clumsyness when I dropped it and cracked the screen.  I cannot recall if this ties in with when the card stopped "working" with the phone.

Can someone please help?  i have looked at the earlier posts on this thread and i am not sure I know how to reformat the card.
