Lollipop update is a mixed bag

So I just got Lollipop on my Z1C and had alot of expectations. Sadly it has more downsides for me at the moment.

The interface is pretty inconsistent and the white color ... oh my god I need to wear sunglasses now when operating on my phone. The autobrightness that had same flukes in Kitkat seems to be here as well (it's increasing the brightness when the background has white or any light colors in it and not based on the ambient light). Basically I can't use the phone during nighttime if I want to read something without disabling autobrightness or else my eyes bleed. Speaking about inconsistencies what is this Sony on the right the "thing" there was just slapped on in the last seconds? I bet is isn't hard to use same design you used to clear the dropdown notifications, something similar to what I "painted" on the left.

Next up some other inconsistencies. Though our phone can do 4K video recording (yes it can, it's not a hardware limitation ... just Sony limitation and I don't need to prove this you already know) I was happy we at least got 1080p@60FPS on Lollipop. Or did we? The screen below is from a video shot at 1080p@60FPS, or well at least that's what the camera app thinks so.

Oh yes that is 30FPS and I'm not the only one reporting this issue, XDA threads started to notice this too.

Next up some benchmarkings that I thought would at least be as good as Kitkat if not better. Well I guess I was wrong again. I ran the test 3 times to be sure and got similar results, nothing over 40k and that runtime ... well something is wrong there for sure.

I'm not trying to make a hate thread here since I stuck with Sony since my first smartphone but some stuff here kind of demonstrates someone is not doing his job right and for sure it isn't me.

Since 5.0.2 will probably be the last update for Z1C I'm dissapointed a bit but I also have nothing to worry about in the same time since the lovely devs and mods on XDA will do better. I do feel sorry for the average users though that doesn't tinker with his phone. They will just have to manage with this.

Hi, I updated my Z1C the other day but after charging it, it say's that it only 16 hours after all the stamina mode are activated. Then I did a software repair thru PC Companion, then i got 3 days 9 hours battery life after repair and after recharging to 100%. After some usage of maybe 25%, when i checked the standby time, i got only 13 hours left. Is this bug in the new software which will eventually getting back to normal level of battery life or should i need to revert back to Kitkat?

Another problem.

At home I can use my wifi connection by entering my username  and password (WPA2 standard). It works perfectly.

At work I use different authentication procedure:TTLS + PAP + identity + password (IEEE 802.1x standard). It worked like a charm yesterday on Kitkat, but it refuses to work today on Lollipop. I have tried everything I could remember of. Stamina and other energy saving options which could interfere with wifi functioning are off. I even downloaded a X.509 security certificate for my organization  (I didn't need it yesterday). Nothing worked. I have walked around in the building to try to hook up to another AP, but without success. I tried different methods of authentication (EAP-TTLS + PAP, EAP-TTLS + GTC, EAP-TLS + certificate + identity in all cases) but nothing works.

EDIT: Afer 2 hours, a decided to make another walk in the building I work in. At one point I entered my credentials again in the wifi section of the phone settings and wifi started to work properly. How? Why it dind't work earlier (but it works for other people who work with me) and now it works? Beats me...

Battery drain is horrible! With 4.4.4 the battery in my z1c lasted all day with very little drain (depending on what I was doing with the cell phone), but with 5.0.2 it is a horror.

I did the backup, erase reset to factory defaults, repair and reinstall all. Battery drain is horrible...
I dislike the lack of vibration / silent button
The phone seems snappier but could as well be the reset result...
The camera seems the same which is neither good nor bad. Shame we can't get use of the raw capabilities. Would also had been great to have the time shift video bit one can only dream.
Not sure if in future I will consider Sony again

I should not complain since I had the same issues with the kitkat at the very beginning. I guess in about an year when the phone will be obsolete Sony will fix all the possible issues Slightly_smiling_Face

Well looking the coments of the people that have updated the phone, since months waiting for an update to lollipop by Sony, not only any improve that the users demanda like high volume for sound (seems to be lower) not better camera processing photos, not features of Z3/2 migrste to z1 like doble tap to wake up the phone, or timeshift,... Worth batery life... I think I will not update my phone and if there is no improvement in the future, to have the same features in kitkat like in Lollipop I dont waste my time to try lollipop.

Hello staff,

I hope that my report is seriously taken over by the proper authorities.

The app room (especially in photo mode) after upgrading to Lollipop, suffers from noticeable dips in framerate. It was intended to speed this thing shooting? or simply a bug?
It seems strange, also because the hardware, the Z1C can support this effort.
I am attaching the example video made by me, you will notice that in the video mode, there are these drops in framerate.

PS I'm not the only one with this problem, other owners Z1C with Lollipop, have the same problem.

And....

Kitkat by pressing and holding on the running application, it gave you a chance to close it and go into details of the app itself, it was a very easy and quick. Why and was removed in Lollipop?
If you can reset it.
Then in the next bug fix, personalized with more toogle (as it was in Kitkat), the pull-down menu.

You can enable the developer mode by pressing the build number repeatedly. Then you have the option to go in app properties by tapping and holding on the app icon.
