I can't close open apps

I have just updated my Xperia S and now when I press and hold the middle button I can't close my open apps as I could before, now this is a short cut to google. Will it have moved somewhere else or have I lost it? I find if I don't regularly close apps it drains my batter so it's a bit annoying! Please help! Cheers.
