Create Wifi connection in Xperia S to use internet

Is this Process will work? or any other procedure?

1. I will connect my dongle to my laptop and connect the internet.

2. Will create an Adhoc wireless connection in my laptop to use this internet connection as a wifi connection in my mobile.

3. Will switch on wifi in Mobile and in laptop as well.

Can I use this wireless internet connection in Xperia S mobile? 

I tried but not able to work on it.

Hi. Perhaps you can try to delete the saved connection and create again

Then you have to recreate again. But this time, try untick the "Save this connection" and proceed, and the next option will be "share internet connection" thingy and press on that.

Finally try and connect with your XS. Tell me bout the result bro. Cheers

My friend was using Samsung  and his mobile detected the wifi connection created in my laptop and signal strength shown was also excellent and able to connect.

Xperia S was also able to detect the connection but not able to connect after entering correct password and WP2 name.

One more question How to find my Xperia S wifi name?

Hi there, probably changing your WiFi password helps?

And you can view your Xperia personal WiFi hotspot by going Settings > Wireless and Networks > Tethering > portable WiFi hotspot settings

But I read somewhere that portable Wifi hotspot is for using mobile internet connection in other devices.

I am a little confused here.

What are you trying to do here?

Are you trying to connect your XPERIA S to connect to a network

OR are you trying to allow other devices to connect to the XPERIA S and use your mobile's network?

Do you have the latest ICS? Or you are still using the old GingerBread OS?

Im from India , today only I enquried with Sony service centre they told it has not come yet. My mobile still in GingerBread OS.

If this works then it will be very helpful. downloading from mobile is slow here :smileysad:, so want to try this way.

I just searched this on Google: "sharing network connection via laptop wifi"

I have not done this myself, but I know it is possible.
