Will the US Sony MEX-BT5700U car stereo work in Europe?

Hi,

I recently bought MEX-BT5700U Car stereo from US and awaiting delivery of it.   Following this I was told that it will not work in Europe, which has made me very concerned.  They however are not able to clarify why it will not work in Europe, other than saying that it may be down to the settings.

Can anyone help me and confirm the this correct or not?

And if so why it will not work in the UK?

I hope it's not like DVD player regional setting.

In US they are using 0.2 Mhz spacing between the stations - we use 0.05 Mhz. So you will be able to tune only some stations.
