WH-1000MX4 Bluetooth Stereo not shown in Playback Devices Windows 10

Hi all

I have a pair of WH-1000MX4s and up until recently they worked ok with my Windows 10 laptop. I could select Hands free audio or Stereo. I mostly use for music, so Stereo was all I really needed.

I recently reinstalled Windows due to repeated graphics issues. All was ok, but when connecting my headphones only the Hands Free Audio option is available, it will not even allow me to select Stereo and Stereo is not shown in [Playback Devices]. (this only happens on my personal laptop, my work laptop the headphones connect fine)

I think it's a driver issue, as I reinstalled Windows and the issue remained, I just don't know what drivers control the Bluetooth Headphones Stereo function (it will connect with Hands Free Audio but is useless for music).

Looks like a lot of people had similar issues but their stereo was visible in [Playback Devices] unfortunately mine isn't not, so I'm quite stuck / going nuts trying to sort it.

Any help is really appreciated.

Hi all

I have jsut solved my moths of Bluetooth woes, I could use my Bluetooth WH-1000MX4 headphones with all other PCs, just not my personal laptop after I reinstalled Windows.

The fault seems to be with the awful Broadcom BCM20702 Bluetooth 4.0 +HS USB Device.

My solution was to purchase a TP-Link Nano USB Bluetooth 5.0 Adapter (they're around £10) and problem solved.

All I did was disable the Broadcom device in Device Manager, then plug in the USB TP-Link Nano, I connected my headphones and they connected with Setero straight way and listed 'conected voive, music' as they did pre my Windows install.

I got really down trying to solve this, I spent a lot of money on these headphones and they worked on both Stereo and Hands Free Audio before I reinstalled Windows. I tried everything

Hey there, I would suggest following this link: https://bit.ly/2XD3P5Y.
But you may wanna initialize the headphones first.

Hi

Thanks so much for getting back to me.

I've tried to go through each step on the website you liked a few times and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I go through each of the steps but when I get to Step 3 it says selec Stereo option but I never see this option available.

When I check in Windows 10 Sounds [Palyback Devices] only the Hands-Free Audio option is there, there is not Stereo option. So I cannot use my WH-1000MX4 for music as they only playback via Hands-Free Audio and the sound is very poor.

Any help would be really apprechited.

Thanks

Nick

Hi

I'm still sruggling with this, I can;t for the life in me figure out how the Headphones work fine with my other 'work' laptop but only conect via Hands Free Audio wiht my 'personal' laptop.

Both are on Windows 10 and up to date, but the Stereo option just isn't available and it never conects in anything other than Hands Free audio.

Could initilising the headphone keep the connection to my work laptop which uses both Stereo and Hand Free Audio but also add the Stereo option to my personal laptop?

Thanks

Hey @Frinkahedron, yes, initializing the headphones may sort this out. I'd also recommend testing different headphones with the same laptop if that possible to confirm if it's a laptop issue or a compatibility issue.

And don't forget to have the headphones up to date.
