WF- 1000XM4 Pairing with Samsung Watch

Hi all,

I am trying to connect my new Wf-1000XM4 buds directly to my Samsung Active2 watch via BT. It appears when I try to connect the headphones through the BT audio feature on the watch, no device is 'found'. Then when I connect to the phone, they pair immediately.

When I connect my smartwatch to my phone, I can play music through the headphones but I need them to be pairable without the phone involved for when I go on runs.

I am concerned that the Headphones Connection App is fundamental to the headphones ability to connect which would be absurd considering that £10 wireless buds can connect directly without an app. 

Any help would be hugely appreciated!

I'm not sure if the smartwatch supports connecting to these headphones but the app is not necessary, you just need to be in pairing mode before the headphones will "appear" on a new device.
