Vista Ultimate

My VAIO has vista home premium installed, wanted to put XP pro on but had issues with certain drivers, so if i installed vista ultimate would it just recognise and install all of the drivers automatically, or would i have to use the drivers folder on the recovery disk?
Am i likely to hit any problems anywhere if i do this?

Thanks

To be honest, there's not much in ultimate that's not in home premium - i feel a bit conned by ultimate. The only worthwhile feature is 'previous versions' and the other backup tools.

Basically, the OS is the same; so if you can't get a driver on Home Premium, you won't find it under Ultimate either.

hth!

Sorry - misunderstood you

Easiest way to handle this is to do a Sony system restore (e-support's favourite), then 'upgrade' off the Ultimate disks.

You'll find it much less painful than installing Ultimate, then the Sony drivers (there are still issues till Vista SP1)

Hi there!

I did a fresh install of Ultimate, but found a couple of glitches too many for my liking.

I recovered back to Home Premium then upgraded to Ultimate. You will still have to perform the updates shown in 'Vaio Update' after upgrade though.

Still isn't perfect, but tolerable at the moment.
