Vaio S2HP CPU upgrade

I have a Vaio S2HP with a Pentium-M CPU at 1.60 GHz and I want to upgrade it to a 1.80 GHZ from a HP NC6000. Do you have any experience if this will work?
Another important question is what do they use in between CPU and heatsink? Do they use the thermal grease or a pad? How easy is to exchange the CPUs and keep it working?

Regards,
Radu

Have seen someone install different processors in an HP laptop and that needed a firmware update as it only ran at the speed that it was set to.

Having said this it looks promising to work as the S2VP a model in the same series as yours is idenical bar the processor which is a 2GHz pentium M. I would say that it will work fine.

When you have installed it (use the thermal grease and make sure that the copper pipe is securely attached) and it has booted up find out the clock speed that it is running at. If it says something silly like 800MHz then you need a BIOS upgrade which Sony is unlikely to supply you will otherwise it has worked fine.
