Sony Vaio Wireless Adapter Problems

Please could someone help me.

I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FS485B and the Intel Wireless Card is coming back with the error Cannot Be Started Code (10).

I have installed all the relevant drivers but still to no avail,

Also when i left mouse double click on the Adapter in Device Manager it returns with the error:

Adapter State cannot be found in the registry,

Has anyone got any clue as to what the problem may be?

Hope you can help me.

Hi RLASupport and welcome to Club Vaio.

I'm afraid it sounds like a hardware fault.

Code 10 is the 'catch-all' error code where windows cannot give any other reasonable error code. The cause is usually a hardware failure or a cable has become disconnected so Windows cannot find a working device.

Your Vaio needs an engineer to have a look inside - are you still within the warranty period?

Thanks Blencogo,

Yeah i thought it might have been a hardware issue, just needed clarification.

I tried eveything, deleting the drivers out of the system32 folder etc and reinstalling it,

Still to no avail, Have logged a call with hardware support, hopefully get it fixed soon.

Thanks for the quick response,

Regards

RLASupport.

It turns out that it was to do with the operating system.

Rebuilt the laptop with a Windows XP cd and it installed it 1st time,

Not too sure what the problems was as i had removed all the drivers from the system.

Thanks for your help,

Regards

Code 10 is annoying - sometimes it means hardware problems, but I've found it's mainly poor drivers that do it.

Wish MS would use more codes instead of being so vague (oh the irony).

Yeah proper does my head in.

There was no reason as to why it wasnt working,

I find Sony products have more problems than most when it comes to drivers,

Think ill be using a ghost image from now on,

Cracking laptop though.
