Hi,
I reinstalled windows XP Pro on my VAIO laptop (VGN-FE21B). After the installation I've got the following problems:
1-) The internet connection won't work: I always got the following message when running the LAN setting utility "Cannot find a network (LAN) device...."
2-) I couldn't configure the screen resolution to 1280 x 800
Any ideas?
Hi mainty and welcome to Club Vaio.
Have you installed these drivers: -
nVidia Video Driver Update 8.4.7.3 (fron the Driver section)
The Network, Ethernet, wireless LAN drivers (from the Original Drivers Package)
You can download them from here: -
http://support.vaio.sony.co.uk/downloads/updates/updates.asp?site=voe_en_GB_cons&c=0&s=VGN-FE&m=2279

I've installed the Nvidia updates but nothing changed.
I've also installed the Wireless LAN driver from the original package.
Now, how can I install the Ethernet and network drivers? I checked the "Network1" and "Network2" folder in the original drivers package but didn't find a setup installation program.
Does your network card show up in Device Manager? Are any other devices shown with yellow warnings?
For each device not installed correctly, right-click on it in Device Manager and choose 'Update Driver'. Choose not to search but to install from a specific location - say have disc - and browse to the folder with your Original Driver Download. The wizard will then search the folder and find the correct drivers required to install.

Thanks a lot Blencogo
It's fixed!
Now, my problem is about DVDs: when I try to watch a DVD, an error message occurs saying "there is no decoder installed for the DVD." I guess it's not a driver related problem. Maybe I need to install some applications from the application recovery Disk.
What do you think?
