Hi,
I have a problem !
(the main at this moment !!)
I have a Vaio VGN BX197XP with broken LCD panel ( need to purchase notebook airbag , thats my second test to learn to fly)
So i connect an external monitor, it works great but nothing appear before XP logon screen.
At startup there is no sony splash screen (on my external VGA Monitor ) only sound
my question :
Is there a way to activate external monitor at startup ?
Someone can describe(dumpscreen or in text) Bios menu structure in order to do modification in "blind" mode ?
My Bios version is R0190X5
i have done all download and update also
thanks for your answers
The Fn button and the F7 button together should change the screen mode ie. from laptop screen to external. I don't know if there is a definate fix though i would suggest using that key combination and see whether it will remember it. Hibenating instead of shutting down will mean that it will remember your settings next time you turn it on.
Hi Matt,
I just tried twice to select with Fn F7 the VGA monitor only option and a complete reboot
but always nothing during post and windows startup !!
i tried also with a crt !!
is it a known bug ?
thanks for your help
I forgot to say that Fn F7 selection is kept even if i shutdown so no need to hibernate !
now i am trying to do some change in bios in order to find the parameter to change
all i have done at now is to change month and disable touchpad
No others ideas to solve this ??
I don't think you can do it in the BIOS so i think you will just have to put up with it or get the LCD panel replaced.
According to the support pages it will cost £474.98 to have the display replaced out of warrenty.
It really a case of spend or put up with it. Personally i would grit my teeth and have it replaced just because its more convienient.
