Error - Registration failed!

Help!! I'm getting the error message "Error - Registration failed" when I disconnect my VP. I follow the recommended procedure for disconecting and get the usual messages on the VP; Checking music info, Updating music info - please wait and then the error message.Everything appears to be working fine and all the tracks are there and play. So what does this error mean and what do I need to do to correct it?

Please help

Mmmh, I don't know.:smileysad:

Try to call VAIO-Link.

Have you upgraded anything? SS, VP Firmware, VAIO music transfer? If not, try them.
You have to upgrade all of them.
But if you already have the upgraded and updated versions, then you have to call VAIO-Link as the problem might be a workmanship defect!

i ve never had this problem

maybe you could refer to the manual to see if anything is mentioned for this in the faq part and if not contact sony and ask for details from them

One to add to the bank of shared knowledge.

I've solved the problem (self inflicted); The first thing when getting my VP home was to get it out and get some music on it. Having uploaded some 10 CDs I then went looking for where the music was being saved and realised that it was defaulting to C:\Document & Settings\All Users\etc. I've partititioned my disk with a drive for Music and wanted all stored music to go to this drive so I went to Options (in SS v2.3) and changed the Location and then moved all the music to a new floder on the drive.

There must be some path data held against the data displayed in the Library that doesn't get updated so I ended up with everything appearing to be OK but when I tried to recopy music to the VP I go a Files not found error.

Thesolution was to delete all the music from the Library and the VP (just those added prior to the drive move). Disconnecting the VP now updated the files and doen't produce the error - all I have to do now is reload all the CDs

I suspect that it's one of those things that you wouldn't do with 20 20 hindsight but I've posted this (and publicly humiliated myself) so that it may help anyone else who decides to fiddle!
