Boot from external CD/DVD USB drive

As many knows, I have FS serie with broken optical drive. Nothing helps, it doesn't read any disk any more (!!!!!!)

What about booting from another USB optical drive?
I haven't seen that option in BIOS.

Hi Euripyd.

I think the XP BIOS allows an external boot only from a 3.5" Floppy drive connected by USB or from a drive connected through the PC Card slot. The Vista BIOS does allow you to boot from a USB flash drive but I don't think this is possible with XP.

Does the FS boot normally? Can you get into Windows? Is it just the disc drive you are trying to fix or are there other problems?

FS boots normally, but I plane to install another OS.
I can use Win. The optical drive doesn't work at all, so I need to use USB Samsung drive as my CD DVD drive. Can I start from floppy and from floppy to boot from USB DVD?
