Battery Issue / Vaio FE

Hi there!

After a bit more than a year with a Vaio Fe21m, here is my lamentation..

Well, first of all, my battery drops off really quickly since a couple of weeks. It lasts between 20 and 30 minutes only, and this happens with really normal tasks (browsing, emails, etc..)
Tried in vaio power management plus scheme, and the story is the same. Also tried with and without bluetooth, wlan, screen brightness. I can only notice small changes (2-3 minutes difference). I'm speechless.
Tried to reinstall whatever possible driver/util related to power management from the recovery dvd's. no change.
MobileMeter (http://tamaru.homeip.net/~shingo/mobilemeter/mobilemeterreadme1.htm) shows me pretty good wear levels (13%), and the difference between designed charge and actual charge is not a lot more than 300mWh. In theory, my battery should be not lasting as long as when I bought it, but f  ing 20mins!!!
Is there anyone who knows about such a thing? windows playing crazy again?

Other symptoms of the age, closing the lid doesn't bring my computer into sleep/standby anymore (already posted thread), and I never got any answer from sony about that. Any suggestions?

Otherwise, it is a good computer (inside, I mean)

Does anyone know who to contact if you want to suggest some things for this forum? like getting the search function to work, a better overview in the threads/classification?

Thanks a lot in advance..

Greets

To be honest sounds like you need a new battery. Can't really understand why by the information you have given about it though.

Did the drop in battery life happen suddenly or has it been slowly dropping?

Thanks for your answer Matt!

Well yep, it sounds like a new battery might be the best way to go. If it is, then it's very disapointing and sad. Not to say expensive, after a year...

To answer your question, the battery life dropped pretty sunddenly, yes. Like 2 months ago. And now it is getting worse, but slowly. (little bit less every week)

Is there some software/driver/bios change to make? Some services to activate?
Every power management service is on, battery drivers are installed... A special sony app to install? Is there any "battery hack" available at all you might know about?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Sorry i don't believe that there is.

Have you got all the updates for your notebook? They are here so you can check.

Batteries are funny things, some last for 10 years some last for a few months. :slight_frown:
