HT-A9 M2

Hello,

I recently purchased the HT-A9 M2.

I have it connected via the centre speaker on the XR-83A90J.

I have run the calibration tool. However, dialog is not only coming from the tv speakers but also the front left and right speakers. I thought it would only do this if it was creating a virtual center channel.

Has anyone else had this issue, or know why it is happening?

I didn't have this on the original HT-A9.

@SeanUsher74

Is the A9 connected to just the centre speaker on the TV, or by eARC as well? Otherwise, the left and right TV speakers won’t mute.

Beyond that, I’d expect the front sound stage, dialogue and all, to be spread across from the left front A9 speaker to the right one, to locate the dialogue with where the actors are, on the screen, and for the voices to be punched up a bit by the TV centre speaker, but not dragged down to mono by it.

My favourite bedtime reading is a Sony product manual…

Hey @SeanUsher74 it's normal to happen with the Center speaker function.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

Trouble is, when you are not sitting dead centre the dialog come form the side channels.

@SeanUsher74, if possible, can you upload a video with the differences here?

Hello,

I can do, but it would show dialog coming from  the left front, centre and Right front.

It is creating a virtual centre, like when you don't have the centre channel connected.

I am pretty sure the original HT-A9 did not do this.

@SeanUsher74 it would be better if we get a video cause as I told you in my reply earlier it's normal to happen with the center speaker
