Dears,
Im newbie, so it would be great if you can help me. I have heard sony zf9 soundbar in showroom. Decided to get soundbar with my xe8096 tv. The main question is if my tv compatible with dolby atmos or dtx? is it possible to listen it on netflix content? Or there is no possibility and content for such tv and soundbar? I have bad feeling that I will be disappointed hoping for much
Should I change tv or what can be done here?
Hi bilinis,
Welcome to the community.
I'm just going to try to find some answers for you. In the meantime, maybe someone else in the community might have some ideas.
Thanks,
Pascale
Hello Guys,
Does anyone from Sony or someone else experienced can help me to solve this question? It wont be nice to purchase, test it, return and write comment that all this stuff is crap.. 😕 Or I should text directly to support?
Hi Bilinis,
It depends on the input that you'd like to play the Dolby Atmos/ Dtx from.
Dts x and Dolby Atmos - Dolby TrueHD cannot be played through TV input only Dolby Atmos - Dolby Digital Plus.
There's a table in the manual explaining everything on page 83.

Dear Black Rose,
Thanks for information. So if my tv supports arc. So atleast I can get some kind of atmos via "Dolby Digital Plus"?
I understand that with toslink maximum I can get 5.1
with tv source and hdmi arc I can get these formats from the table:
So the rest depends on the source I will have on TV? I have found old information that SONY XE 2017 might be not supported with Atmos on netflix? Are any other sources like Netflix, Amazon, that can support Atmos. If I understand correct Atmos DD+ should work?
It so messy, that I dont know what to expect from soundbar as it its will be used with tv only. Maybe its better thing to use similar sony or samsung solution with 5.1 at least?
I think the problem is: XE80 is not Atmos compatible, ARC or not...
Looks like. So maybe it means that it would be better to have real 5.1 instead of hoping atmos.
And I think another option as I understood is to use compatible atmos and dts some kind of TV box (player)?
It would be nice to find out best workaround..
Hi Bilinis,
It's mainly related to ARC and eARC support.

thanks The_Black_Rose
Does your answer refers to the question regarding solution to use any other player? So any player must be compatible with latest eARC?
Hi Bilinis,
The TV doesn't support the eARC.
