I have a KD49X8305 television which was running slowly so bought a Roku 4k streaming stick to speed it up, which has certainly helped that issue. However I was hoping to receive 4K broadcasts on BBC iPlayer and Disney+.
When the stick is in operation the UHD option on iPlayer and the 4K option on Disney+ do not appear.
This happens whether it is plugged directly to an HDMI port or as passthrough using a Sony HT-X8500 soundbar.
When plugged into a more recent Sony model the higher resolution is available.
I have changed the settings on the ports to 'Enhanced' and tried a factory reset, but that has made no difference. Incidentally, the native apps on the TV itself also do not give the better definition option.

Hi @AGreen
Assuming that you mean KD-49X8305C (the C [2015] is important), I am only guessing, but it may be do to your TV does not appear to support 3840 X 2160 50/60Hz
I repeat, this is only a guess.

Thanks, yes, that's the model.
But don't the specs say the display is 4k?

Hi @AGreen
Yes, but 4K (3840x2160) comes in many flavours (frequencies).
For example:
My X89J - 3840x2160p(24,25,30,50,60,100,120Hz)
Your X83C - 3840x2160p(24,25,30Hz)
As you can see, according to Sony specs, frequencies above 30 are not listed for your TV.
I must emphasise, this is the reason it is not working is a pure guess!
Thank you @LightFoot , I suspect you are right.
To be truthful, we watched 'Dune' on it last night, and as the TV is not large by today's standards the quality of the vision and sound was more than adequate with that setup.
I have contacted Roku and will update this thread if they come up with anything else.
If the input you have the Roku Stick plugged into supports Enhanced HDMI mode, enable that.
If it doesn’t, but another HDMI input does, switch to that one.
