a55 battery life

Does anyone else have a problem with battery life with the a55?

My batteries lose their power quickly even when the camera is  switched off.  I recently put the camera away with 48% of battery power  remaining.  When I got it out again 10 days later it was down to 3%.

On  a recent holiday, I took 300 photos over 7 days, mostly without flash,  and had to recharge a battery every night.  My old Dynax 5d would do a 2  week holiday on a single battery charge.

This happens with both the battery which came with the camera and a second Sony battery I purchased later.

I hope someone can help.

Hello majikmike

Have you installed the latest firmware onto your A55? The latest version of this is available here:

Thanks,

Simon

i can assure you v2 firmware does nothing for the unexplained battery draw while off.

battery removed  5% in a month, left in it will consume 50-80% in a month

I installed the new firmware not long after it came out but it made no difference to my battery problem.

Have you tried switching GPS fucntionality off? It has been known to draw battery power even when the camera is switched off.

Worth a try!
