Upgrades to future Android releases

Hello,

will it be possible to upgrade my Sony Device to the forthcoming Android versions (rooting)?

And will be possible to do this keeping all my user data and the Sony add-ons stored in it?

Is it safe, virus-free?

a new android update its not rooting, Sony will release an update to the Xperia Z to Android 4.2 soon after its released.
