How do I obtain a ringtone other than the ones on the phone

Either user music files or ringtones on the internal storage 

Open the phone app > menu > settings > sounds & vibration > scroll down > sound > phone ringtone

You can use audacity or any music editor from play store.

Place your ringtone in the ringtones directory.

You can even let your friends sing, tell, or say something like 'sue, someone's calling', record it and use that as a very personal ringtone.
