Possible source of fingerprint scanner issue

 Hi all,

I have seen a number of posts describing an issue whereby the fingerprint scanner function gradually stops working. I had this issue myself, and resolved it by performing a reset of my phone using the Xperia Communications software. However, in about the same amount of time the issue has resurfaced. I did a little digging on the google dev pages, and found this: https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/ui/accessibility/services#fingerprint

Another post I read (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/eyes-free/ajEKCS-fDnQ) indicated that the issue may relate to the Google Talkback app, which uses fingerprint gestures to do shortcuts.

From what I have gathered, it is likely an issue stemming from an app (or a bug within the OS) which locks access to the fingerprint scanner, and worsens over time, until eventually a reboot results in the fingerprint hardware locking out completely (the OS no longer acknowledges the presence of a fingerprint scanner). I would like to point out this issue is ENTIRELY software-based, there is nothing wrong with the fingerprint scanner. Unfortunately, as I do not have root access due to Sony forcing the user to forfeit DRM keys upon unlock and not wishing to lose these features I have paid for, this is as far as I have gotten.

Please, any Sony devs, could you look into this issue?

Good evening I only write in Spanish, I bought a Sony XZs by Amazon in the USA I imported it to Ecuador, Country where I live, however it has not enabled the option of the fingerprint reader as it was updated to Oreo however there is no option to read What can I do? I do not want to rotate my phone because after I lose the guarantee, thanks for your help and response

Buenas noches solo escribo en Español, compré un Sony XZs por Amazon en USA lo importé hasta Ecuador, País en donde resido, sin embargo no tiene habilitada la opción del lector de huellas como se actualizo a oreo sin embargo no existe la opción de lector de huella que puedo hacer?? No quiero rotear mi teléfono porque después pierdo la garantía gracias por su ayuda y respuesta

Check the XDA Forum and look for Xperifirm, that way you can flash the global generic firmware

New development: I disabled lock screen security and from the lock screen the phone can detect a finger press and unlock. This leads me to suspect the issue lies in the finger print software accessing security info.

Thanks for the response, it did not help the XZs did not recognize the fingerprint because as I mentioned it does not have the software to recognize fingerprints2 because of Sony's blockade to US phones but I bought this phone in that country but I'm using it in Ecuador and all the oreo updates have not been able to activate this function someone please solutions without going through the flashing?
