Headphone Jack ruining headphones

I've had my phone for 4 months now

I had big sony headphones after a while I couldn't hear out of my right ear. So I had to rotate the jack to get it working. Then it eventually stopped all together. I then startes using my earphones and the same thing happend, right ear and everything.

Whats going on. Its ruining my headphones

Have you tested the headphones with a different phone? have you tested different headphones with your phone?
