Z2 Prepurchase Questions

Hi!

I have finally decided to upgrade my ancient Nokia phone and am looking at the Z2 🙂

I was hoping some of you kind people could help me with some questions as the shops don't seem to be able to help....the first two are most important for me.


1. Email: I have several email IMAP accounts (some accounts with multiple identities). Some of the accounts have folders with over 10000 messages (no that was not a typo 😉  ). Can the default Email application handle this?

2. Can the default calendar sync with multiple other Google calendars (e.g. mine, a generic holiday and my wifes)

3. Can the default Music application read MP3 tags and display my music by e.g. artist or albumn ? (and display media art) ?

4. Can the default Gallery application display my photos in folders e.g. by date? Or do I have to view them all at once? (which I imagine could lag after a while).

5. I know the Z2 has a stamina mode which looks excellent. Can it e.g. turn off wifi when I leave home and turn it on at the office?

6. Can I configure the phone to store photos, videos (and for those applications that support it e.g. maps) on the SD card by default?

7. Can I deactivate applications that I don't use (and will that survive a reboot). I am aware I can't fully remove applications unless I root the phone.

8. Is there any difference in time between charging the phone via USB or magenetic charger?

9. Can I customise the home screen i.e. its not locked down is it?

HALT, STOP!!!

DO NOT buy Z2.. Too many problems, many of them HW related.. You will be extremely sorry that you bought it.
Just go through the forum and you will understand..

Our friend above is entitled to his opinion, as are everyone else on this forum.  But most people on a device forum are complaining about something, and the numbers on this forum are tiny compared to the number of Z2's sold.  

Back to your questions:

1. Not 100% sure.  I use Gmail against 4 accounts and Gmail handles the number of emails viewable / searchable.  I can't see any reason why Gmail couldn't handle 10,000+ emails; just don't expect to be able to view historical ones without some data transfer... (Update - my primary Gmail account has 12,750 emails which I can search & find emails with no problem...)

2. Yep, it can.  My four Gamil accounts are all visible on the calendar app.  You could always download Google's calendar too.

3. Walkman - not sure as I use PowerAmp (costs around £3 on the Play store).  PowerAmp can do that.

4. Again, I don't use the default - instead I use QuickPic (free!) and that sure can do what you're requested.

5. Yes, it has what is called "location-based wifi".

6. Probably, if the app creates its own folder on the SD card.  Long story - Google with Android 4.4.2 has done silly things with SD card write access; not Sony's fault.  

7. Yes.

8. Megnetic charger appears to be about 10% slower to charge

9. I haven't tried...yet
