Hi,
I bought my mobile on 23rd July 2013.I had maintained it carefully, occasionaly taking pictures in the rain. The phone seemed to work fine and one fine day I decided to test in on a bucket of water. Before immersing the phone underwater,I checked several times to ensure that the flaps are closed and finally decided to take the plunge. The result-when I took the phone from the water,my phone started behaving differently and switched off by itself.I knew that the phone had been water damaged.I dried the phone immediately and made sure that I removed all the parts too.I searched for help across the forums and came across a post which told me about the water indicators in the phone. They looked red.I called the toll free no and registered a ticket and they asked to go visit a service center.I took my phone to the service center and those unorganized made me wait for an hour before just rejecting my phone saying that its water damaged.I had made a study before and happened to witness a post from the support forum moderators which gave me the right to request for a vaccum test. When I requested the service center guy for a vaccum test,he said it cannot be done in India saying that they are L1/L2 service centers and cannot process my requests. When I politely told him if that is the case and if he is not going to offer me any help,I am going to contact the Consumer Court. He smiled and asked me to go ahead.I am a student and 30,000 Rupees is a lot of money.I feel cheated, sad, angry and disappointed with SONY and their service. After being their customer since their P990i,I feel let down and cannot even describe the emotions that I am going through. If you cant make good waterproof phones, why do u make false advertisements? Please help me!

Sorry to hear about your phone.
Not all service locations may have the equipment to make a vacuum test. If the service location was unable to send your phone to a service location that can do this i recommend that you contact your local Sony Xperia support (http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/) again for assistance and information where to send the phone.
Hello Rickard,
I contacted the service forum.I got a reply saying that my query will be responded within 48 hours.I simply get an Email from Mr.Yashpal Chauhan of Sony customer services asking me to take my phone to the service center again which simply means that he has not even read my query nor paid attention.I have mentioned above and in the note to him that I have taken it to the service center and they are simply denying my phone service because it is water damaged. But I am sure that all the ports were closed and that is the reason I am asking for a vaccum test.I am entirely disappointed in the brand Sony and I have been a victim of Poor servicing and bad client care till now.I do not want to be a victim and Xperia ZR has made me think of Sony as brand which promotes false adveritising, bad Quality care too. Please do help me in sorting out the issue.
Still no response.I am forced to go to the Consumer Forums!
No vacuum test in India. What do I do?
As service is handled at a local level i can't see which service locations that can do a vacuum test. Your local Sony Xperia support should however be able to assist you with this. Have you tried contacting your local Sony Xperia support ([email protected])? I can't find any email from you in our systems.
I have contacted the online support staffs and the toll free phone number.I got a mail from the a customer service agent saying that vacuum tests are not availabe in India. The service center is asking me to pay 90 percent of the phone's current market value to get a new phone which is pointless.

What is the status now?
This is normal.. I will never do this kind of testing unless I'm working on a mobile reviewing company such as gsmarena. Warranty is always a nightmare in 3rd world countries. I don't even thing why would be botherd to buy this much pricy phones which was luxary to our country.
