Xperia ZL sudden shutdown

Hey.

I recently updated my Xperia ZL (C6506) to the 4.4.2 Kitkat software and now its been having sudden shut off. I know about the phones out there heating up quickly, the Google Play Services bug after the update but I didn't see anyone having any problems with the sudden shutdown as far as I know.  It wouldn't even boot up past the "Sony" start up screen. I was able to that from happening by leaving it on the charger. I thought that reinstalling the software using the Sony PC Companion would fix the shutdown but it kept happening before and after installing the software. Two days later leaving it in the charger wouldn't work anymore. It just boots up to the "Sony" screen with the red LED notification then shuts down over and over by itself. I'm not even sure if its charging or not.  I tried to reinstalling the software again using the Update Service this time and got past the "Sony" screen after it fail to boot up the first time although I had to use the charger to get it going. I wanted to leave it alone until Sony can fix the Kitkat update so after it got done installing I shut it down and wanted to let it charge completely and now its in a red LED "Sony" screen sudden shutdown loop.

So is there anything that can be done about this?

Hi

First of all take out the sim card and SD card out of the phone and see if it boots properly.

If it doesn't then force shutdown your phone by following the steps given here

Once you shutdown the phone, use SUS to reload the software in your phone once again

SUS > 

SUS ( Sony Update Service) ... download and install it on pc and follow the on-screen instructions

I force shutdown the phone but it got stuck in the "Sony" screen in a loop this. It stopped but it won't boot past the screen now. It was off the charger and it has over 90% of battery when I did this. Its able to boot up now when its on the charger.

I tried reinstalling the software again using the SUS again but its still having the sudden shutdown.

Same issue with a Z with 4.3... Actually visible on the battery managment screen a sudden power loss (TOTAL) and u actually see that battery has decreased charge by 20/30% at new reboot with charger... Any thoughts? have tried almost everything...

Do you think it could be the battery that cause the sudden shutdown?

Actually no... Same thing happened with the last update(4.2.2)... So... Gues i'm going to make a repair to my back pannel (cracked and SONY won't take care of it till repaired) and try to get it to Sony services, if my "independent" repair shop (actually repairs phones without loss of warranty) cant do it either...

I guess that the 4.3 software update didn't fix your ZL, right?

Hey Rock. I had the exact same problem as you with my Xperia ZL after I updated to 4.4.2. Luckly, mine was still under warranty (with only a month and a half left too!). I sent it in to repair at my local dealer (im with Rogers in Canada). The repair place couldn't fix the problem, so they sent me a brand new Xperia ZL (sweet!). Now im on the initial firmware version (4.1.2), the one where you could slide to the left on the lockscreen to get to the walkman app. I hate that the UI looks like **bleep**, but Im gonna stick with this f/w version since the battery life is great and I love having the walkman app on the lockscreen. So what I recommend is sending it in if you can, or downgrading to a lower f/w version. Good luck!

Mine phone's warrenty is out so send and repair is out of the question. Possibly. How do you downgrade it?
