Xperia z2 not charging

My xperia z2 isn't charging either by the orginal charger or by computer usb, a message keeps showing that the battery is discharging faster than it charges, and i have no idea what to do ? please help the phone is brand new it's been with me for just one month.

Could you try holding the red button next to the USB-port for a couple of seconds and see if that helps?

Also try charging the phone while it's turned off and see if that works and then try a software repair.

I started charging it last night
but then it got into a loop while it was charging where the screen would keep turning on

no matter how many times i turned it off it would turn itself back on
due to the (charging, not charging, charging, not charging)
such a great new feature sony implemented!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
quite annoying when trying to get to sleep
i tried charging it while switched off
i left it plugged into charger over night, no idea if it was actually charging!?
now no  matter whether its plugged in or not i now have a solid red notification light
now the phone wont turn on at all !!

i popped open the cover and held the red button in for 3 seconds or longer and nothing
I have officially given up all hope!!!
i am taking it back to the retailer and demanding a replacement

clearly this is faulty and not fit for purpose
and under NZ consumer garuntees act i have the right to request a replacement, repair or refund
particularly as the phone is still within its warranty period barley 4 months old

Guess which one ill be opting for!

Why will they be able to replace my phone?

because it is clearly faulty and needs a total replacement

we dont have a local Xperia Care, just a sony store and because it wasnt bought their they wont want to replace it

it was bought from a retailer Loel Leeming
which is exatcly where ill be going as soon as they open

@Jason222 Either you go to that Store, or contact your local Xperia Care, there's nothing else we can help you here at the forum, as this forum is for us, users, to help each other.

Jason, did you update to android 4.4.4?

I have the same exact problem, and nothing seem to work.

The only thing I haven't tried is this, but I don't know if it will remove the warranty if used

hi sony my z2 is dead,
