Xperia Z Charging Issue

I have had the Sony Xperia Z for 3 months and 2 weeks ago it stopped charging up. I took it to my local O2 shop and they sent it back to be repaired. It came back saying that it it was beyond economical repair (BER) and not covered under the warranty. They said I had done damage to the phone while inserting the charger. I assured them I had not done this at all, I had just inserted the charger as normal and if this is broken then it is a fault with the phone. The man in the shop advised me that nothing he can do and to go home and make a complaint with 02. I did this and the they told me that as far as they were concerned, it was BER and not covered by the warranty so the phone was now of no use, there was nothing they could do and I was expected to carry on paying my contract of £37 per month for another 21 months for a faulty phone I can't use. I was offered a refurbished phone to buy for £150!!!  This is disgusting service! I will be taking this further with Sony. From this forum Sony should be able to see that there is obviously an issue with the charging point on the phone and this needs to be addressed and we need to be sent a repacement phone and not be accused of causing damage to a phone that we have a contract for for 24 months!!

Also if someone from Sony could tell me who they are regulated by and details of their complaints department and what the service level agreement is with regards to complaints please?
