Xperia SP Restore stuck

Xperia SP was running very slowly, so I figured a repair software update might help.  Backed up phone to SD card, hooked phone up by USB to laptop, used Sony PC Companion /  Repair software- that all worked ok.  Problem is in restoring from SD card - it's been stuck on 26% for over an hour now, with no sign of progress.  Any ideas? I'm worried that if I turn it off and start again, it might brick the phone.

Update - found the cancel button, and backed out of the restore, phone worked ok, but without all the stuff I wanted to copy back on to it. This morning, restored successfully from a backup I put on my PC
