Dear brilliant people at Sony,
I have some gripes with your launcher.
Actually, it is the only thing about my shiny new Z3 (aka the Mothership) that I do not like and I suppose I am posting this to get his of my chest and to feed the faint hope that somebody in your company will go like "heeeey, she is so right, I am going to.. etc.. etc"
The phone is brilliant! And I had the intention to forgo on Nova Prime but I lasted about 4 hours.
First I do have to mention: the inclusion of themes is BRILLIANT! And I applaud you for that!
4x4 Grid
I cannot understand, for the life of me, why this is still standard.
4 years ago when 3.5 inch phones were still commonplace a 4x4 grid on the home screen made sense but with all the real estate on the Z3 the limited grid irritates the bejeezers out of me. It is unnessesary limiting and makes the screen imo look ugly. I understand you do not release soly 5+ inchers and you must cater to all your customers but if every third part launcher can give us custom grid dimensions, you can do it too.
App tray
I am struggling to think of something I like about the app tray.
I can only have folders if I chose a custom app order. I can only have the horizontal screens, no vertical grid, moving apps from one screen to the other to create your own order is an impossible, cumbersome task if you have a number of apps installed. There is no possibility to hide apps you don't use or don't want to look at and worst of all. It changed not at all since the days of sony ericsson and my old Xperia Ray.
This really needs more options and could be way more intuitive. Why would I have to swipe 5 times to get to the app I need in the last screen?That is ridiculous!
Icons
Why can't I add my own icon pack? You have themes. I don't get it.
Long story short: The launcher lacks options and reminds me painfully of the days of Gingerbread which really is not becoming of a 2014 flagship device. You do not have to add layers and layers to Vanilla Android like Samsung does, please don't!
But I am convinced the launcher can be sleeker, more intuitive and flexible to suit the individual user.
