wifi hotspot connecting but not sharing internet connection

Hello to you all

Sorry if my English is a little faulty. I'll still try to explain my concern.

I installed version lollipop 14.5.A.0.242 last week.

My problem: I can not share my wifi connection and wireless access point, an error message appears when I turn on sharing.
The error message: Error during connection sharing ( not very explicit that info)
Yet the share icon is active in the upper bar.
I can connect via my pc protable to my Z1, but with limited access no internet connection.
The last time I used or tethering date in August 2014 and it worked perfectly .

You should also know that I have changed mobile provider there a month and I have a chance to surf the internet with a 3GB package.

Can you help me ?

Similar but not the same, you could flash the global generic or the nordic firmware to your phone and test again

It seems to me very complicated told like that.
I absolutely do not know the technique to flash the firmware.

Don't worry about it, it's quite simple, download the FTF file, Flashtool and follow the steps.

I would like a confirmation from SONY Canada that they are working to release an update quickly for the Xperia Z1 WiFi Hotspot not allowing connected devices to access the internet after the Lollipop upgrade and when the update is expected to be released. I use my phone as a WiFi Hotspot for my laptop while traveling for work and cannot function without this feature that worked under KitKat. 

I took my phone to a Rogers Plus Store to see if they could re-flash it back to Kitkat and their phone maintenance tool would not work with Lollipop. They said I have to wait for an offical update to be released from SONY. I remember this happened when I updated my old SONY ION from gingerbread to Icecream sandwich and my bluetooth headset would no longer wake up my phone to dial out. I almost died 100 times trying to unlock my phone manually while driving so my handsfree bluetooth headset would function. I had to wait for a year for the Jelly Bean update that fixed it.  I can't even take my phone to a SONY store were I bought the SONY Care extended warranty for my Xperia Z1 phone because they closed down the 14 SONY stores in Canada early in the New Year.  

Pretty much the last straw for me SONY...you have ruined my life. That should be your new sales pitch, "SONY, ruining peoples lives". I guess it's my own fault for relying too heavily on technology and giving SONY a second chance.

Sorry to hear that you have issues with tethering.

Have you also tried to reset the APNs in the phone? You can do that from Settings -> More -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names -> [menu] -> Reset to default.

I had the same issue after upgrading my Z1s ( T-Mobile ) to Lollipop.

I used hotspot all the time prior to the upgrade and after the upgrade, I would just get 'Tethering Error'

I believe for me at least, the clue was that I used to use it prior to the upgrade.

I had to basically clear everyting out. Once I did this, hotspot tethering was restored to operation.

Here's what I did:

1 Clear the cache partition ( google this or see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQCE76-twIM )

2 Reset APN to default. Settings ->More->Mobile networks->Access Point Names->3dot menu->Reset to default

3 On my laptop (or other device that I used to tether to my phone), delete/forget the hotspot wifi connection and re-create it from scratch.

My laptop now connectsto the hotspot as it did prior to the upgrade.
