USB doesn't work on Windows 8.1

Hi,

I've look at tons of forums to find a fix for my problem but it doesn't want to connect to window 8.1 with the usb cable (not charging as well). It was working perfectly before and I can't remember the last time it works. I don't remember if it works after upgrading to Lollipop 5.0.2 build number 14.5.A.0.270. In the device manager it sees Other Device - !D5503 (not installed code 28)

Also it works perfeclty in Linux Mint 17.1

Here what I've tried so far

  1. reinstalling PC Companion
    - Only thing it will do is poping a message with connecting to (null)
  2. Installing the driver from http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/xperia-z1-compact-driver/
    - got this for MTP USB Device = "Windows found driver software for your device but encounter an error while attempting to install it"
  3. Uninstall driver from Device Manager and reconnect phone but I got the same driver problem.
  4. Try also with usbdeview with no result
  5. USB debugging mode
    - It detect a MTP devices in the Device Manager with the same code 28 error
    - PC Companion start detecting something but doesn't find it.

I'm out of ideas so if you think about something I haven't try... about the code 28 I've seen some apps that are supposed to fix the regristry but can I trust them?

Thanks

Reinstall pcc, restart your computer, disable your firewall and Antivirus, run PCC in compatibility mode, report back
