USB connection to MAC Book Pro

My Xperia Z2 tablet has been delivered with a docking station DK 39 and a USB charger. Charging - even a little bit slow - works fine. For data transfer from my Mac Book Pro (quite new 13 inch) I connected the Z2 tablet via the docking station DK 39 and USB to my notebook.

The Z2 tablet does not get recognized and even not charged.

Does this generally not work or I do need another cable to connect directly the Z2 tablet to my notebook?

DK39 and magnetic connectors on Z2 tablet and Z, Z1 and Z2 smartphones are charge only. 

You have to use USB cable and connector.
