Hi im trying to update my tablet but, since i have <5 gb free on my system drive its seems its not possible. I have another 2TB+ free on my other drives but i only have a 60GB SSD for my system that is always pretty full. Is there anyway for PC companion to use the remaing storage to update my tablet? I mean there doesnt seem to be a selection anywhere for it, even to install it to another location. Pretty flimsy software for a company like SONY.
Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
As far as I know, you need more than 5GB to perform a software update via PC Companion. And unfortunately, you cannot change the location for the installation of the program.
You can always check if you are able to perform a software directly on your Tablet Z via Settings > About tablet > Software updates > System updates. Otherwise, I suggest (if possible) that you clear data on your PC or that you check if you have another computer available. Perhaps a local retailer can update your Tablet Z.
Ive checked in my settings and it states that I need a PC to perform the update.
I have to say Im beyond confused that I have this issue in this day and age. Can you please tell your software team to give an option to change the installation location as does every other software in the whole world. Or choose to use a different drive as cache instead of me having to uninstall or move files just so I can update my Tablet that I paid money for and so I dont have to go to some retailer and waste his time and mine in this process. Its a freaking joke.
As you already know adjusting installation path of PC Companion is not supported at the moment. I'm not aware if this is due to any specific reasons but I will forward your feedback about this internally.
