Stop update in PC Companion

SONY, Please help ? I think sony PC companion isnt working properly, It says downloading for hours already and still does not have any progress on its downloading bar. I would like to stop its Update. Please help ? I dont want my phone to become a brick .. Please, Im begging you Sony.. How can I find a way to stop the update and stick with ICS ?

U can stop while it's downloading and nothing 'll harm your device .. U shouldn't stop when it's Installing the update to your device

Like Jack said,there is no problem stopping the process unless it is installing the software on your device.You can reinstall PCC and do the whole process again.
