Sony Xperia Z1/Z3 Compact

Hi!

My question is: are there any "compatibility" differences between the 2 phones? (or will there be maybe "in the future")

Will the Z3 Compact have a longer compatibility life-time (like android / applications / etc) or both phones will supported for the same time?

It's hard to say but Z3 Compact is about a year newer. We don't have any information on upcoming software updates in the longer run.

so most likely there won't be much difference between the 2 products? (from past experiences, etc)

As I'm sure you understand I can't make any promises, but I'd say no, there won't be much difference.

Z3C and Z1C differ only slightly in CPU (Snapdragon 800 vs 801). Rest of them is more about used parts, battery size, newer version of camera chip. But essentially their are more or less the same phones in except to Snapdragon platform.

I guess they will be supported quite long and the decision to cut support to Z1C will be more like "it is old enough, let's drop it" rather than difference in capabilities itself.
