Sony Xperia V keeps shutting off

Hi All

My Sony Xperia V is only 6 months old, and I am having non-stop issues with it... The phone keeps shutting down and rebooting itself. I cannot even send an sms without it rebooting... This has been going on for 3 months now.

I have upgraded the software to the latest firmware, I have shoved an 8GB SD Card in it... but yet the problem persists.

This phone is completely unreliable and I cannot use it without cursing and getting my blood boiling. It has actually gotten worse since upgrading the firmware Slightly_frowning_Face

What else could this be? Other than taking the phone back to the ISP, what else could I check? Any suggestions?

I chose this phone due to a dislike of Samsung phones, but I am starting to regret that decision.

Can somebody please advise my next step before I start demanding my money back???

What is your build number?

Have you tried the Factory Data Reset option on your settings?

My build number is 9.1.A.1.140 - the phone says that I have the latest software.

My android version is 4.1.2.

I have tried the Factory Data Reset option already, but that did not make a difference.

I have tried every option that I can think of. It has been suggested that it could be the battery that is faulty (apparently quite a few brands have had battery issues)... But my ISP wants to send the phone away for 3 weeks???

If thats the case then you should bring your unit to the nearest service center in your area.

You try by removing the microsd card and SIM card and check if teh phone reboots.

It will be better to take the phone to service centre before warranty gets over.

Good day

I've read a couple of places that you should replace the battery. Being from South Africa, I don't have a lot of faith in our local Service Providers to actually fix my phone.

My phone restarted and went into boot loops a LOT. I could not even receive phone calls anymore. Everywhere I went I asked for a replacement battery but no stock was available.

About a week ago I finally found a replacement battery (albeit generic). Put it in, and voila, no restarts or shutdowns for the past week! The phone even works faster, so I think the original battery was faulty and did not give the correct power throughput to the phone.

Try it and see if it works for you!

The day I got my mobile  back from the service centre it's being more problematic. But, I'm still using it as I have no other option and moreover, I have spent on it. Who has time to go to Service centre very often?

Most of the time my mobile is switched off and thanks to Sony for that!
